Click For Cards

Software Usage

This section will describe how to use the PC software for the Gold Mate PC and assumes you have it connected as shown in the hardware setup section.

First a basic description of how the Gold Mate PC functions. The Gold Mate PC has its own onboard memory that stores all the code for and from the cards. So the action of programming data from the PC to a card involves 2 steps. First you send the data to the Gold Mate PC then you program the card from the Gold Mate PC. Reading from a card to PC is the same but obviously in reverse.

This makes it possible to simply load data to the Gold Mate PC for programming to cards at a later time. Also you could read from a card and then at a later time retrieve the data from the Gold Mate PC.

The next details will describe the individual functions in detail.

Installing The Software

Installation is very simple and does not take a lot of explaining. Assuming you have downloaded the latest software or have the software supplied with your Gold Mate PC to hand. First run the setup.exe file and follow all the on screen prompts. The software will now be installed on your PC.

Getting Familiar With The Software

To start the software click your Start button, Programs, Gold Mate PC, Gold Mate PC. The software will then start.

You will find a row of buttons with a progress indicator and some Tabs for different buffers and options etc. The software opens displaying the Options TAB. From here you can set the com port you are using. Once you have set the com port then click the Get Gold Mate PC Info button. This should then read out some data and the serial number from your Gold Mate PC. If it does not then you need to check your power settings and your Com Port settings.

The other 2 tabs are for the 16x84 and 24C16 buffers. This is the part of the software that holds any code you are working with.

Programming A Card

The Gold Mate PC supports both Standard GMI files and Standard HEX files. For this example we will assume you have obtained or written your software and have it ready on your PC.

If you have a single GMI file then click the Open button, locate and select your *.gmi file. The data for both the 16x84 and the 24C16 will be loaded into both buffers.

If you have 2 separate HEX files then you can go to each buffer and click the open button in each buffer and locate your *.hex file to load your 2 separate files into each buffer.

Next click the update button which will send the data to the Gold Mate PC.

Once the data has been sent to the Gold Mate PC make sure your jumper is on position 2 or 3 and simply insert the card into the card slot. Wait for the red LED to go off and the card is programmed.

If you need to program more cards with the same data then the PC software is no longer needed as the data is stored in the Gold Mate PC. Just keep inserting the cards until you have programmed as many as you want.

Reading A Card

PLEASE NOTE: The card you want to read from must not have the Code Protection set on or you will not be able to read it.

To read from a card make sure the jumper is set to position 1

Insert the card and wait for the red LED to go out. The cards data is now stored on the Gold Mate PCs onboard memory. Click the READ button on the Gold Mate PC software and wait for the read to finish. Both buffers will now have the data from the  card.

To save both buffers to one single GMI file just click the save button at the top and choose your location and file name.

To save both buffers off to separate HEX files then go to each buffer and choose the save button to save both files off.
