Click For Cards

Software Usage

This section will describe how to use the PC software for the Gold Mate PC Plus and assumes you have it connected as shown in the hardware setup section.

First a basic description of how the Gold Mate PC functions. The Gold Mate PC has its own onboard memory that stores all the code for and from the cards. So the action of programming data from the PC to a card involves 2 steps. First you send the data to the Gold Mate PC Plus then you program the card from the Gold Mate PC Plus. Reading from a card to PC is the same but obviously in reverse.

This makes it possible to simply load data to the Gold Mate PC for programming to cards at a later time. Also you could read from a card and then at a later time retrieve the data from the Gold Mate PC.

The next details will describe the individual functions in detail.

Installing The Software

Installation is very simple and does not take a lot of explaining. Assuming you have downloaded the latest software or have the software supplied with your Gold Mate PC Plus to hand. First run the setup.exe file and follow all the on screen prompts. The software will now be installed on your PC.

Getting Familiar With The Software

To start the software click your Start button, Programs, Gold Mate PC Plus, Gold Mate PC Plus. The software will then start. You will find a row of buttons with a progress indicator and some Tabs for different options etc.

Advanced Options TAB
From here you can set the com port you are using,  Disable Warnings and Information pop ups and view the buffers etc. Once you have set the com port then click on the Get GM/PC Info button. This should then read out some data and the serial number from your Gold Mate PC Plus. If it does not then you need to check your power settings and your Com Port settings.

Card and File Section
From here you can select your Card Type, Open Files and Save Files.

Programming A Card

The Gold Mate PC supports both Standard GMI files and Standard HEX files. For this example we will assume you have obtained or written your software and have it ready on your PC.

If you want to Load GMI files or Save GMI files then you can use the large Open and Save button at the top. If you have separate Hex Files then you can use the Save Hex Files or Open Hex Files Buttons.

If you have a single GMI file then click the large Open button, locate and select your *.gmi file on your computer. The data for both the 16xxx and the 24Cxx will be loaded into both buffers. The Red Buffer Indicator will turn Green.

If you have 2 separate HEX files then you can click the PIC button in the Open Hex File section. Then locate your Hex file for the PIC part of the card on your computer.
The Red Buffer Indicator will turn Green. Do the same for the 24Cxx part of the card and again the Red Buffer Indicator will turn Green.

Next click the update button which will send the data to the Gold Mate PC Plus.

Once the data has been sent to the Gold Mate PC make sure your jumper is on position 2 or 3 and simply insert the card into the card slot. Wait for the red LED to go off and the card is programmed.

If you need to program more cards with the same data then the PC and PC software is no longer needed as the data is stored in the Gold Mate PC. Just keep inserting the cards until you have programmed as many as you want.

Reading A Card

PLEASE NOTE: The card you want to read from must not have the Code Protection set on or you will not be able to read it.

To read from a card make sure the jumper is set to position 1

Insert the card and wait for the red LED to go out. The cards data is now stored on the Gold Mate PC Plus onboard memory. Choose which card you have in the software and then click the READ button on the software and wait for the read to finish. Both buffers will now have the data from the card and will the Buffer Indicators will be Green.

To save both buffers to one single GMI file just click the save button at the top and choose your location and file name.

To save both buffers off to separate HEX files then each of the buttons in the Save Hex File section one at a time. Choose your location and file name. Your Done.
